For much of its life, the Soldiers Home village revolved around the Headquarters Building (Bldg. 1). Built in 1896, this cream brick edifice housed the Home’s administrative offices until 1942 as well as the Home’s post office, much of which remains intact.
Today, it is home to the Soldiers Home Foundation, Friends of Reclaiming Our Heritage, the Dry Hooch, Poppy Sales and American Legion and VFW offices.
